We can only learn from the past if we are willing to read about the past. The articles that follow were in the Daily Newspapers all the time and they reveal the sentiments of the time on the issues of race relations and segregation.
Some are local issues and involve soldiers from Camp Merritt, and others are events that happened throughout the country with African Americans during their service during World War I.
